News About our 2009
Trip Prices
Prices for all our 2009 trips are now available at our website. The only
exception is the price for our inaugural hiking trip to Kyushu which we
expect to be able to announce by the end of November. |

Special
Offer! If you're hoping
to travel to Europe or New Zealand, here's a bit of good news. The
dollar, at the moment, is doing well against both the euro and the New
Zealand dollar. Consequently, we're able to realize some savings on the
cost of operating these trips and are in a position to pass those
savings on to you. If you sign up for any of the following trips (while
the exchange rates remain favorable) AND pay for the trip in full, we
can offer you a reduced price for the trip (approximately $200 dollars
off per person):
Hiking New Zealand, February 22-March 8, 2009 (North & South Islands)
Hiking New Zealand, February 27 - March 8, 2009 (South Island only)
Hiking Northern Greece, June 1-10, 2009
Mountains of Bulgaria, June 13-21, 2009
Best Hikes in the Dolomites, July 4-10, 2009 (short version) and July
4-13, 2009 (long version)
Dolomites for Walkers, July 17-22, 2009
Please note that this is a limited-time offer that is contingent on
actual exchange rates. |

On-Line Catalog for
2009
Walking Softly Adventures will not be printing a hard-copy brochure or
catalog this year. We believe we can more comprehensively and more
attractively present our trip offerings to you on-line at our website. We're
happy, too, that an on-line format allows us to do our small part in
reducing the demand for paper products. Note that our trip calendar and
individual trip descriptions can be downloaded and printed from our website.
Please let us know if you run into any problems accessing information at our
website. |
Special Art Trip to Boston
In cooperation with the Docent Council of the Portland Art Museum,
Walking Softly's Amy Osaki will be leading a trip to Boston next April
focusing on the city's art, history and architecture. This trip is open
to members of the Portland Art Museum. If you'd like to join the trip
and are not already a member of the museum, you can join for a
membership fee of $55. Join Amy in
Boston for an art adventure, April
7-11, 2009.
Presentations
During the year, we schedule a number of audio-vidual presentations at
various venues (mostly in the Pacific Northwest). For dates and times,
check the Showtime! page at our website.

A New Name, a New
Website!

Walking Softly Adventures, Inc. was established in 1996 to develop and
deliver high quality hiking trips focusing on the mountain landscapes of
Europe (and now the world)! Over the years, we've offered both our hiking
trips and a selection of cultural and archaeological tours under the same
name, Walking Softly Adventures.
Based on your feedback, our hiking trips will soon be offered under the new
brand "Mountain Hiking Holidays" at its own website at
www.MountainHikingHolidays.com. You'll also notice a new logo, but you'll
see that it has the same "look and feel" of the old Walking Softly logo. We
think that the name, Mountain Hiking Holidays, better describes what we
offer. We hope you'll agree!
Our cultural or "heritage" trips (like our "Jordan Heritage" and "Heritage
of Japan" trips in 2009) will continue to be designed for active travelers
and will feature strong "outdoor" and walking components. These "heritage"
trips will continue to be offered under the name "Walking Softly Adventures"
at www.walkingsoftly.com.
We plan to launch the Mountain Hiking Holidays website officially by the end
of November. But don't worry! Even after the launch of Mountain Hiking
Holidays, we will make sure that you'll be able to access information about
all our trips by going to either
www.walkingsoftly.com or
www.MountainHikingHolidays.com. Our commitment to creating extraordinary
travel experiences for you remains unchanged.
Warmest regards,
Amy & John Osaki
and the Walking Softly team |
